Yigal Landau on indications for gas in Leviathan: “It came as no surprise to us”

As the Leviathan drill-bit hits a reservoir with an estimated 16 TCF of gas, the Leviathan partners have issued a statement on positive indications for natural gas at a depth of 5100 meters, similar to the Tamar discovery. Ratio Oil Exploration CEO Yigal Landau explains that more tests still need to be carried out.

“The positive indication was expected and did not come as a surprise,” said Landau. “We will now wait for the next stages of drilling and for receiving the full analysis of this discovery from Noble Energy. We owe them our thanks and appreciation for being the only company willing to become a partner in large-scale oil- and gas-exploration in Israel. Deep-sea drilling is considered to be a complicated procedure, and without the know-how, expertise, and commitment from Noble, there was no chance of accomplishing it.”
